When they were so despaired, they pick pocketed. One time, he got caught and punished by people; Srey Oun tried to help him with only a small stick. Because she was so young and innocent, they let us free. But at another time, Srey Oun got caught; they hit her on her knuckles until she pees on her skirt. Even though they are poor, not enough food to eat, no comfortable place to stay, they still sometime have good time and laugh together. Remember all those memories, his tears keep shedding. From now on, he gets nobody to laugh with. He wonders when he is going to see her again. He asks himself how he can he lives if something happens to her.
At around noon, Borey is exhausted, but he finds himself near by a market not far from the river, Phsar Chas. He walks tiredly to the food to go section. The aroma of the barbecue chicken, pork, the grill cat fishes and mud fishes make his mouth watering. Waiting for an opportunity while the vender turns away,
Borey snatches a grill cat fish and runs. Not fast enough because of lacking energy, he fills a hand grabbed his hair from behind.

However, all that prosperity, the city beauty cannot turn their life around to a better one like those street lights or dancing water.
Homeless like his sister and he can only stand by and watch the riches enjoy their life styles. Listen to their laugh of joys; watch them have delicious breakfast, lunch and succulent dinner while his sister and he can only have mouth watering.
It’s after 10PM, only a few people are still in the park. Borey holds his sister’s hand seeking for a place to sleep. Arriving in front of the Royal Palace next to the river bang, called “Preah Ang Dang keu” where most homeless are staying at night. Borey thinks if it is good enough for them, it is good enough for his sister and him, too. They find a spot and make themselves comfortable by covering them with “kromar”. Srey Oun cannot fall asleep with empty stomach. She doesn’t to bother her brother while he is sleeping. She decides to look for something to eat by herself.

Most villagers and bystanders feel sad and sympathy for the kid.

They don’t have much to give, but they help organize for their mother

funeral.

A week later, the two kids are still in tears. The little girl misses her

mother so much and she begin to weep. Borey tries to comfort her

and ask her to stop, they end up cry together. The more they talk

about what their mother told them, the more tear flow. Their mother

said she didn’t want to die, not at this moment. Half of her life was

wasted because of the war. Her husband, a war veteran, becasme

handicap because he wanted to help bring peace to their people and

the country. Her husband died twenty years after the was ended.

When peace is finally here, she wanted to enjoy her life. She wanted

to see the prosperity, but she was sick instead. She regretted that her

husband and she couldn’t live to see what he was fighting for. She

heard about the good life during peace time from older people. she

want to see it. She need more time. Because of those talk, Borey

have tried many possible ways to archive their mother goals by trying

to buy more time for her. They tried from stealing to pick pocketing to

see if they got lucky enough to get some valuable items for the money

to treat their mother. But all times, they end up getting hurt instead.

Sometime, they almost lost their life.

Dark night

Right in front of them, it’s the Hospital sign. They enter very quickly,

unfortunately nobody there at this hour. It’s closed. Borey with his

mother on his back leaves the public hospital with his sister right

behind him. They look for the private hospital. Borey and his

sister beg the hospital personnel’s to take a look at their mother,

even those they tell them, it’s too late. Their mother has already

passed away. They keep on begging until the hospital personnel’s

force them to leave.​ On the side walk of route number five speeding

by all types of luxuries vehicles back and ford, the poor brother and

sister sit and grab their mother body with tears shedding across both

checks under a black berry with most branches completely cut off.
